Valentine's Day brings to mind hearts, love and caring; which is why <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />AllianceCommunityHospital and the American Red Cross have selected February 14th as the date for our monthly blood drive. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The drive will take place on Thursday the 14th from 12 noon until 5:45 p.m. in Conference Room 1-A on the first floor of ACH.
“I recently learned that one of our Colleagues' grand-daughter has been diagnosed with leukemia. Her story was heart-wrenching, and she mentioned how very thankful the family is for the many individuals who have donated blood and platelets making her granddaughter's chances of recovery much brighter,†said Marcy Todd, ACH Volunteer Coordinator andBlood Drive committee member.
“When a story like that hits so close to home, it is impossible to ignore a request to help. Simply by donating an hour of your time and a unit of your blood, a life is saved. There isn't any one of us who knows what the future holds for us and our loved ones. We need new donors every drive. And we are so thankful for those donors who faithfully donate on a regular basis,†she said.
Appointments can be scheduled on-line at www.givelife.org or, interested donors may call the ACH Volunteer department at 330-596-7822 or 330-596-7821.
Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh no less than 110 pounds and have a photo ID available at the time of their donation.
“We encourage our donors to schedule appointments, so that we can process more efficiently. However, if someone walks in, we are certainly not going to turn them away!†said Todd.
