Community Care Center acquires new Coach bus
Residents of Community Care Center (CCC) at Alliance Community Hospital will once again be hitting the streets. And they will be riding in style in a 2016 Diamond Coach 14-passenger wheelchair-accessible bus.
"After being without transportation for the past several years, it's great to be able to get our residents out and about a little more," said Lori Underwood, activities coordinator at CCC.
According to Underwood, they are now able to take residents on day trips to area restaurants, on park visits and more. "This fall and winter we have trips planned to the Austintown Casino, Dutch Valley restaurant in Sugarcreek, and at Christmas we plan to take several outings to see some light displays in the area," she said.
A portion of the money needed to purchase the bus came from the Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary. "When the request to donate funds to the bus project was presented to our auxiliary board in March we knew it was something we wanted to make a contribution to immediately," stated auxiliary board President Lisa Peloso.
Community Care Center is a 68-bed extended care facility attached to Alliance Community Hospital. It shares the same Planetree philosophy and values of the hospital in the care it provides to the residents. "It's so important to be able to cater to our residents by getting them out of the facility to experience things they might have enjoyed when they were able to live independently," said Underwood.
