Alliance Community Hospital Enforces Statewide Smoking Ban
Starting Thursday, in accordance with Ohio's Smoke Free Workplace Act, visitors, patients, physicians and staff at Alliance Community Hospital will not be permitted smoke around any of the facility's doors, windows or anywhere near the buildings that smoke could enter through a ventilation system.
All tobacco receptacles, as well as all smoke huts on the premises, will also be removed. Signage will be posted around the building with a number to call to report violators as required by law.
As of Jan. 1, 2007, ACH and all of its affiliates will become tobacco-free facilities. At this time parking lots, vehicles and all grounds of the hospital will also become tobacco free.
For those interested in quitting smoking or other tobacco use, the hospital will continue its Fresh Start program, a free four-week smoking cessation course sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Starting Wednesday, Jan. 10, classes will be offered at the Louisville YMCA from 12 – 1 p.m.
