ACH to host health fair
Alliance Community Hospital will be host to a comprehensive community health fair complete with free screenings, complimentary healthy snacks, important health information, and helpful giveaways on Sept. 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the hospital's discharge circle at 200 E. State St.
The theme of the health fair is "Fall into Good Health" and is being sponsored by the hospital's Patient Advisory Council for Excellence (PACE).
While the hospital participates in several health fairs and events throughout the year, members of PACE believe there are a number of service lines at Alliance Community Hospital that need to become better known to the public.
"PACE was formed to serve as an advisory board to the hospital from the patient's point of view," Terry Blickensderfer, president of PACE, said. "We thought there would be value for the hospital to host a health fair to showcase some of the wonderful things they do that perhaps the public takes for granted."
Hospital officials plan to create a festive environment at the health fair that will include a modified scavenger hunt that will encourage guests to visit each station for a chance to win a free bicycle. The fair will include more than 20 stations, each of which will include a takeaway.
Another feature will be the ability to consult with experts on future planning, such as living wills and other advance directives.
Every visitor will receive a complimentary canvas bag that can be used to take home the numerous pieces of information and useful giveaways that will be featured at the event.
