ACH to hold blood drive Aug. 8
Alliance Community Hospital will host an American Red Cross blood drive at the hospital from 12:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Aug. 8 in conference room 1-A.
As we celebrate the community of Alliance during Carnation Days, what a fitting opportunity for our community to come together for a common cause -- one critical to so many. One productive unit of blood has the potential of saving three lives.
Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years with parental consent), weigh no less than 110 pounds and be in generally good health. A photo ID or their Red Cross donor card is required at registration. Donors are encouraged to drink additional fluids at least 24 hours prior to the drive. It is also very important to have eaten a meal before donating.
Once a donor is registered, they move to the history portion of the process and from that station, they move into the drawing room where it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to make the collection. Donors are then asked to stop at the canteen to begin the process of replenishing their body's needs.
To schedule an appointment for the blood drive, donors can go online at www.redcrossblood.org or by calling the ACH Volunteer Office at 330-596-7822 or 330-596-7821 and the staff will be happy to schedule an appointment.
