ACH Hosts Annual Light Up the Labyrinth Celebration
The calm, quiet Labyrinth which sits neatly beside the main entrance to Alliance Community Hospital was buzzing with visitors, candles in hand, at dusk last Thursday evening.
The reason for all the clamor and light was the hospital’s third annual celebration of “Light Up the Labyrinth.”
“We set aside one Thursday in November annually on which we meet in the Labyrinth in the late afternoon to join together in reflection and camaraderie and to ponder what it means to be a Planetree faciity,” said Patty Kimerer, PWE, ACH’s PR/Foundation Director and the organizer of the event.
About three dozen hospital employees, volunteers and their family members gathered on the outermost edge of the Labyrinth and shared a prayer of solitude, as well as one for protection of all U.S. military members as they held lit candles and shared a few meditative moments.
“In lieu of a monetary donation, we’ve asked folks to simply bring in a non-perishable food item for donation to the Alliance Food Pantry,” Kimerer said.
She said that several dozen canned and boxed food items will be donated to the pantry in time for Thanksgiving.
“We’re proud to come together to celebrate the compassionate caregiving practices we enact as a Planetree hospital; the only one of its kind in Ohio. Our dedication to our patients and stewardship to our community are some of the unique aspects which set our community hospital apart,” she said.
