The Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary and Hospice will host their 27th Memory Tree of Light Celebration on Sunday, December 7th, at 2:30PM in the hospital café.
The Memory Tree of Lights is a fundraiser to help family and friends remember loved ones through donations to the auxiliary. The Memorial Tree committee is presently selling ornaments in memory or in honor of loved ones. A Christmas tree will be placed in the hospital lobby in December decorated with a silver bulb for a $10 donation or a gold bulb for a $20 donation. Checks can be made out to ACH Auxiliary and mailed to the ACH Volunteer Office at 200 E. State Street. Alliance, OH 44601. Please include the name of the donor and the person being honored or remembered. The deadline to purchase ornaments is Friday, November 21st.
A second tree decorated with purple bulbs contributed by Hospice to honor the memory of all patients who passed away from Oct. 2013-Oct. 2014, will also be placed in the hospital lobby. A scroll will be placed near the trees containing the names of all being remembered.
Robert Lavery, retired Alliance Municipal Judge, will be the featured speaker for the Memory Tree of Light Celebration. Music will be provided by Herb Oyster, Sue Grove, Mary Lou Williams, Paul Cubick, and Paul Hobe. The outdoor Christmas tree and the two indoor trees will be blessed and lit during the service, and the names of all memorialized persons will be read. Refreshments will be served.
In October 1933, the ACH Auxiliary, and ultimately the Volunteer program, was founded by Mrs. Fay Asherman, Mrs. Karl Feigenschuh, Mrs. Harry Roderick, and Mrs. Walter Webb. The purpose of the ACH Auxiliary is to promote, advance, and improve the welfare of Alliance Community Hospital by keeping the best interests of the community in mind.
Through these fundraisers, the auxiliary is able to give back to the hospital and the community. Earlier this year funds were provided to buy needed items for the Microbiology Department, the Community Care Center, and the Outpatient Therapy Department. Auxiliary funds also pay the salary of the ACH shuttle driver and provide three $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors planning to pursue a career in the medical field.
Membership in the ACH Auxiliary is extended to any area resident. Dues are $5 a year, and can be paid in the hospital gift shop, located near the lobby.
