ACH announces blood drives
Alliance Community Hospital (ACH) will host an American Red Cross blood drive every month during 2013. All pre-scheduled drives will be held on the second Thursday of each month. Blood drive hours will alternate each month between 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 12:30 to 6 p.m.
"In 2012, we had a very successful donor year, and we hope to provide even more productive units in 2013," stated Michele Quinn, blood drive committee member and coordinator of Volunteer Services. "We are committed to our community and our patients. We never know when one of us or our loved ones may be in a situation where there will be a need for blood or blood products."
The first ACH blood drive of 2013 will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in Conference Room 1-A, inside the hospital Cafe. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years of age with parental consent), weigh no less than 110 pounds and present a valid ID at the time of the donation.
Donors are encouraged to to establish their own profile at www.redcrossblood.org, thus enabling them to schedule an appointment to a given drive at their own convenience. The volunteer department staff will also be happy to schedule appointments for donors.
"We have been very fortunate to have area businesses and organizations support us through our sponsorship program, either by hosting a drive as a corporate sponsor, or by supporting our drives with wonderful giveaways and door prizes under our Business Express sponsorship," said Quinn.
If you are interested in learning more about the blood drive sponsorship program or would like to schedule an appointment during a blood drive, please call the ACH Volunteer Department at 330-596-7822 or 330-596-7821.
