ACH AND RODMAN PUBLIC LIBRARY TEAM UP
Alliance Community Hospital will be celebrating World Book Night 2012 by welcoming Judith Hookway, Adult Acquisition and Programming Librarian from Rodman Public Library, on April 23rd. This is the inaugural year for this celebration in the United States.
Hookway was chosen by the World Book Night organization to be one of 20,000 book-givers. Those selected are passionate readers who enjoy recommending a book they love to other readers.
Alliance Community Hospital is proud to be hosting an event as part of World Book Night 2012, which is a world-wide celebration of reading, recommending and giving of books. Hookway will be giving away copies of “Ender's Game” by Orson Scott Card in the patient registration area at 9:30 a.m.
“I chose ACH because I happened to be in the patient registration waiting area myself in December,” Hookway said. “The staff is quite efficient and the wait isn't overly long - at least it wasn't for me because I brought a book with me. I don't think any of my co-waiters brought one. When I heard of World Book Night, I thought what a great place to hand out books to people! Books can do so many things for us; ease a time of waiting, take us away from our own troubles for a little while, and allow us to walk in someone else's moccasins for a time.”
World Book Night is an industry-wide initiative launched in 2011. One million free books will be given away by passionate readers to the public across the United Stated, UK and Ireland.
